Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone | Potter Week Day 1

Halloo everyone!!!

How are you all? It’s been a while eh? Well one’s gotta do what’s to be done and let’s just say my hands are full lately. Actually they are quite overflowing.(So full that I forgot to schedule this post and now I’m doing it on the second day. 😦 ) But here I am and y’all know what month this is and that we ought to do something Potter-ish. So, keeping that in mind, I’ve decided to do a Potter Week! I’ll pick my favourite character, a scene, a trio moment, an object, a spell, a creature and a quote from each book starting from the Philosopher’s Stone to the Deathly Hallows. The only aim is to enjoy and refresh our memories and maybe end up rereading them again. So without further ado, let’s proceed shall we?

Potter Week Day 1 – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Favourite Character – Hagrid

If I were to find out I’m a witch, there’d be nobody better than Hagrid to break the news to me. He’s the kind of person I’d wanna be friends with in a new place no matter how magical the place be.

Favourite Scene – First Glimpse of Hogwarts

The narrow path had opened suddenly onto the edge of a great black take. Perched atop a high mountain on the other side, its windows sparkling in the starry sky, was a vast castle with many turrets and towers.

Favourite Trio Moment – Troll Fight

After all that’s where the trio’s everlasting friendship bloomed. Starting from Professor Quirrell’s entry in the Great Hall to Harry and Ron getting points I loved how it could be funny, scary and adventurous at the same time!

Favourite Object – Mirror of Erised

He looked in the mirror again. A woman standing right behind his reflection was smiling at him and waving. He reached out a hand and felt the air behind him. If she was really there, he’d touch her, their reflections were so close together, but he felt only air — she and the others existed only in the mirror.

She was a very pretty woman. She had dark red hair and her eyes — her eyes are just like mine, Harry thought, edging a little closer to the glass. Bright green — exactly the same shape, but then he noticed that she was crying; smiling, but crying at the same time. The tall, thin, black-haired man standing next to her put his arm around her. He wore glasses, and his hair was very untidy. It stuck up at the back, just as Harry’s did.

If that part didn’t make you teary eyed then you are heartless. Well certainly less emotional than me. It’s the most heart rending moment of the entire book and I literally cry every time I read it or watch it.

Favourite Spell – Wingardium Leviosa

You’re saying it wrong. It’s LeviOsa, not LevioSA.

I would never forget Ron’s expression. It’s the spell that started the trio’s friendship. If not for it we can’t say where would Hermione be and how the story would have shaped. 😛

Favourite Creature – Centaurs

You might call me  crazy but I think centaurs are definitely one of the sexiest creatures ever! And if you remember the book properly, Firenze is absolutely HOT!

Favourite Quote

dumbledore_quote_3

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”

It’s one of my favourite quotes from Professor Dumbledore. I’m afraid the quote from every other book is going to be Dumbledore’s as well!

Before I sign off, I’d love to tag three more Potterheads each day to share the fun this week. And feel free to not do it I swear I won’t jinx you!

  1. My favourite scene is definitely the first glimpse of Hogwarts as well! It’s such an important and magical moment. I literary cry every time I come across the Mirror of Erised scene – it’s sooo heartbreaking.

Thank you for tagging me! But sadly I can’t do it, I’m super busy this week. 😦 It’s seriously such a shame, as Harry Potter is my all time favourite series.

Also this is such an amazing idea! I really look forward to all of your posts! 😀
